Robert J. Bethea, Jr. has witnessed gentle and compassionate care to individuals since he was a little kid in his hometown of Bakersfield, California. At the ripe young age of 16 years old Robert began his quest at Jesse E. Cooley Funeral Services of Bakersfield, California. After completing high school Robert knew someday he wanted to own his own funeral home, so he set the foundation for preparations to accomplish such a goal as ownership.
Robert first attended Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, Georgia. Shortly after attending Mortuary school, Robert"s mother became ill, and he had to moved back to California to care for her. After his mother"s recovery, he joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Robert successfully passed his Kansas State Board Exams and is currently licensed by the State of Kansas as a Professional Funeral Director and Embalmer.
He is currently the President of the New Generation of Funeral Service Practitioners. Robert entered into partnership with several businessmen to operate Biglow-Bethea Funeral Directors in Wichita. "It was before it"s time," Bethea says, describing the funeral home. When the business eventually failed amid a crumbling partnership, Bethea knew it was time to become master of his own fate. "I realized," he says candidly, "I can"t ride someone else"s back to success." A passion for service and compassion for others has made Bethea a name in the state of Kansas.
