George H.W. Bush Obituary

America’s 41st President, George H. W. Bush, passed away on November 30, 2018 at the age of 94. He was suffering from vascular parkinsonism.

Despite already being accepted into Yale University after graduating from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve as the United States were entering WWII. At the young age of 18, he became the youngest pilot in the Navy. His plane was shot down in combat, and he received the Distinguished Flying Cross.

On January 6, 1945, he married the love of his life, Barbara. After the War, Bush earned a B.A. in Economics in only 3 years at Yale.

He entered politics as a Republican and served as a United States Senator from Connecticut from 1963 to 1972. During the presidency of Nixon and Ford, was appointed high-profile titles, including: Ambassador to the United Nations in 1971, Chairman of the Republican National Committee in 1973, envoy to China in 1974 and Director of Central Intelligence in 1976. Bush served as Vice President of the United States from 1981-1989 under President Ronald Reagan.

George H. W. Bush was inaugurated on January 20, 1989 as the 41st President of the United States, succeeding Ronald Reagan. During his years as President from 1989-1993, he had many achievements. Two of his arguably greatest accomplishments were passing the Americans with Disabilities Act (the ADA) and the successful prosecution of the war to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation, which helped renew the stalled Mideast peace process.

In 2011, George H. W. Bush was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Barack Obama, which is the nation’s highest civilian honor.

He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Bush, who passed away on April 17, 2018. Leave a message of sympathy on George H.W. Bush's commemorative page to show your support.
