David Harley Meisky
On Monday, January 27, 2020, David H. Meisky, age 65, passed away peacefully after a long hard fought battle with cancer. In his last days he was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in York, Pa, on July 31, 1954, he was the son of the late Harley D. Meisky and Geneva E. (Saylor) Meisky. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1972-1974, he attended York High School until 1972 and later received his G.E.D. He was employed by Loomis and the York County Prison for many years. In 2013 David graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage. In 2015 he moved to Youngtown, AZ where he enjoyed spending his time volunteering at the Halo Animal Rescue. He also attended the Phoenix House of Prayer. David loved being outdoors, going for hikes, reading mystery novels, and riding his motorcycle, but by far his greatest joy in life was his children. He was an avid football fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens. David was an excellent cook and had a great sense of humor, he will certainly be missed by many.
David is survived by his four children, Jessica E. Meisky of Palm Coast, Fl., Kathryn E. Russell and her husband Adrian Russell of Breinigsville, PA, John D. Meisky of York, PA, and Deanna M. Meisky of Wrightsville, PA. He is also survived by one brother, Brad J. Meisky of Greensboro, MD, 7 grandchildren, Madelyn Maenner, and Ethan Maenner of Palm Coast, Fl, Natalie Russell, Adrian Russell Jr, Mason Russell, Hailey Russell, and Grant Russell all of Breinigsville, PA.
Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Salem United Church of Christ with Pastor Kevin Becker officiating. David’s ashes will be scattered at the beach by his daughter Jessica Meisky.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the ASPCA of York, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 as this was near and dear to David’s heart.
