Norma Jean Matt, 74, of Joliet, a former resident of Kankakee, Illinois, died Wednesday (April 12, 1989) at Sunnyhill Nursing Home in Joliet, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the services at 11:30 a.m. at the Norris & Sons Funeral Hoe in Jonesboro, Illinois. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Matt was born May 27, 1914 in Kankakee to the late Clyde and Hilda Smith Redman.
Her husband, Lewis Matt, whom she married April 29, 1930 is deceased since 1960.
Surviving are a daughter, Norma Louise (Robert) Garza of New Lenox, Illinois; two sons, Lawrence (Carol) Matt of Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Gerald (Marilyn) Matt of Parma, MIchigan; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchidren; two brothers, Clyde Redman and Len Redman, both of Kankakee, Illinois; four sisters, Juanita Simmons, Monette Harrington, Juastina Perkins and Dolores Molinaro, all of Kankakee, Illinois, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceeded in death by her son, Duane (Cletus) Matt and a step brother.
Mrs. Matt, who had been employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 30 years before retiring, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
